Safety at Emirates
Emirates has earned a reputation for offering industry‑leading services on the latest and most efficient wide‑body aircraft in the skies, and this success is underpinned by safety, which is always our top priority.
Over 50 million passengers travelled on Emirates last year across its global network of over 150 destinations, and as our passenger and destination count continues to grow; managing safety at the airline is always at the forefront of all that we do.
Safety is one of our corporate values, setting out our purpose and ensuring that safety is part of all our practices.
“We will protect our customers, staff and assets through a ceaseless commitment to international and all other appropriate safety standards and the adoption of practices which emphasise safety as a paramount personal responsibility.”
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al‑Maktoum,
Chairman and Chief Executive Emirates Airline & Group
We have a healthy organisational safety culture, where employees are encouraged to proactively play their part in the continuous improvement of the airline’s safety.
Operational Safety
At the heart of our operation is a rigorous safety risk management mind‑set and focus on safe behaviour and safety practices. We apply thorough risk and change management principles to all aspects of our operation, including Flight Operations, Cargo, Engineering, Ground Operations and Cabin Safety.
We have one of the youngest fleets in the air and we strive constantly for continuous improvement in safety. Our proactive initiatives include:
- The introduction of new operational digital tools and technology that improve safety efficiencies
- Investments in state of the art analytical technology in support of proactive and predictive safety management activities
- Participation and chairing roles in various globally recognised aviation safety groups
- Frequent data sharing with international aviation bodies and other organisations for the continuous improvement of safety in the wider industry
Below the wing
A number of really important activities happen below the wing, to ensure our airport operations always run smoothly, efficiently and safely. Whether it be the secure handling of passenger baggage from the point of check in to its final destination, to the challenge of loading the aircraft and the operation of various ground service equipment supporting every task in the process, everyone has an important role to play in keeping a busy airport on schedule. Our technical teams also play a critical role in maintaining the vehicles and equipment that are needed to support our customer airlines.
