Alaska Airlines
Alaska Airlines is the fifth-largest U.S. airline based on passenger traffic and is one of the most popular U.S. West Coast air carriers. Headquartered in Seattle, Alaska Airlines and its regional partners fly 44 million guests a year to more than 115 destinations with an average of 1,200 daily flights across the United States, Mexico, Canada and Costa Rica.
The Alaska Spirit is born
For 90 years, Alaska Airlines and the people who make us who we are, have been guided by integrity, caring, ingenuity, professionalism, and a unique spirit—a spirit that has grown out of our geographical roots.
Who we are today is a direct result of our history and the amazing people involved in it; a long list of aviation milestones, paired with countless stories of people being remarkable to help others.
All these milestones, good deeds, and community involvement have helped us grow us from a small regional airline to an international carrier. With more than 44+ million customers a year, our route system spans more than 120 destinations and five countries.
How we fly
Whatever walk of life we come from, we all share a common purpose and values. It’s the foundation on which we base our decisions and actions, for our guests and each other.
DEVELOPMENT
Ascend to your potential
It’s not uncommon to meet decades-long Alaska or Horizon employees. You’ll hear stories about how they started on the ramp and moved to management or even executive leadership. Or maybe they started in reservations and eventually found themselves leading important cross-functional projects. The development opportunities abound and can lift a job into an incredible career.
Ramp up your career
There are numerous opportunities for employees to use their work experiences to take their careers to the next level. In fact, it’s encouraged.
There are dozens of stories about employees who worked their way up and around both companies – and even beyond – thanks to the educational opportunities, stretch assignments, and industry experiences they gained.
Developing Leaders
A strong future depends on innovative and talented leaders. That’s why the Developing Emerging Leaders (DEL) program is so important—it’s designed to prepare employees at Alaska or Horizon for future leadership opportunities.
DEL is a competitive six-month leadership development program for high potential frontline employees, individual contributors and new supervisors who have demonstrated outstanding performance, values, and are interested in pursuing leadership roles. In addition to their regular job duties, participants complete individual and group assignments that provide exposure across the business while developing leadership skills and solving real business challenges.
“Over the course of six months my team created bonds so strong we didn’t want the program to end, but I know I have deep connections with leaders across the company that will last for years to come.” – Nicole, Campaign Manager, Brand Marketing.
