More than 75 years of milestones
Air New Zealand wouldn’t be the successful airline it is today if we weren’t constantly looking for new ways to move our business forward. Every decade has brought exciting new advances in technology and fresh challenges which we’ve faced with enthusiasm, professionalism and a good dose of Kiwi ingenuity.
World-class service the Kiwi way
Our customers are at the core of everything that we do. Across every journey, we strive to create meaningful connections with every customer, that last a lifetime. We do this through kiwi ingenuity and through our people that bring to life our unique Air New Zealand values.
As a diverse group of people, we encourage individuals within our teams to be themselves and to welcome everyone as a friend. We are proud of our can do attitude and go beyond expectations through dedicated leadership, and a consistent standard of excellence in customer service delivery.
Our koru is our badge, and we wear it with a smile as we say ‘Kia ora’ to our customers and share our love of New Zealand. We know why we are here and our commitment to our customers is that every journey is a memorable one, that seamlessly stands out against others in the industry.
Sustainability at Air New Zealand
Our company-wide purpose is to supercharge New Zealand’s success socially, economically and environmentally. Our social responsibilities and the principles that guide us, are instilled within our business and symbolised through our Koru.
Our Koru reflects and inspires who we are as Air New Zealanders. Linking us to our beautiful country and gives us a sense of place. Reminding us of our responsibility to nurture and maintain our precious resources for future generations. We are acutely aware of the importance of maintaining and growing New Zealand’s “100% Pure” reputation internationally.
We have a wide range of initiatives underway to support communities throughout New Zealand and ensure we are a world-leading employer.
We also seek to minimise our carbon and environmental footprint, and make a significant positive contribution to New Zealand conservation and climate science programmes. We are committed to supporting New Zealand’s economic success through tourism and trade opportunities.
Our fleet enhancement
We were the first airline to take delivery of the revolutionary Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner in 2014, an aircraft 20 percent more fuel efficient than its predecessors. Over the next five years we plan to invest approximately $2.1 billion in new aircraft. As of June 2016, our average seat-weighted fleet age was 7.5 years, contributing to significant fuel efficiency gains, ensuring we gain the significant carbon emission reductions.
We also aim to lead the way on the ground by operating one of New Zealand’s most technologically advanced, renewably powered electric ground fleets. In 2016, we started to transition more than 75 light vehicles to electric options, with the transition now complete.
