An Overview of Lufthansa Airlines
Deutsche Lufthansa, commonly known as Lufthansa or Lufthansa German Airlines is the largest German airline and, when combined with its subsidiaries, the largest airline in Europe. The name Lufthansa is derived from Luft ‘air’ and Hansa, ‘the Hanseatic League’. Lufthansa traces its history to 1926 when Deutsche Luft Hansa A.G. was formed in Berlin.
The main operations base, called Lufthansa Aviation Center, is at Lufthansa’s primary hub at Frankfurt Airport, and its secondary hub is at Munich Airport.
Lufthansa is one of the five founding members of Star Alliance.

Maintenance is just the beginning
Our name “Lufthansa Technik” dates back to the last millennium – but our spirit is forward-looking.
Don’t let yourself be misled by our company’s name. We are not an organization of people working in remote hangars, our heads stuffed with technical details, avoiding fresh air. On the contrary: we love the possibilities technology offers. That’s why we are constantly scouting new trends in technology and maintaining close contact to our customers – ever eager to create opportunities – and find (better) solutions for needs or wishes. We are shaping the market, not just adapting to it. And one thing is certain: our long history and experience are an excellent foundation.
Close to our customer – that’s how we define our global strategic network. And we offer mobile solutions wherever needed. We are the only technical service provider in the aviation industry that works together with all original equipment manufacturers in the world. Our matchless expertise is part of a larger process in which we keep our finger on the pulse of the aircraft and our eyes on the reliability and cost efficiency of the entire fleet. Try us!
